Catching Up: Cambria

Slowly making our way back to LA, we had a quick stop in Merced and then Cambria.

Jakey and Great Grandma Rowan getting to know each other.

Ben & Dad's annual really-long-bike-ride on the PCH.  This year they rode 90+ miles.  Yowzah!

Always the best sunsets in Cambria!

Jake enjoyed watching them from the backyard.

Jake's first trip to the Sea Chest.

Every baby needs a good walk on the ranch.

Catching Up: Indiana

Once Ben's internship at General Mills ended, we got to spend two weeks in Indiana with Ben's parents.

Jakey's bessfwiend Aunt Kristi!

Gorgeous new Indianapolis temple - 7 minutes from Ben's house!

Ben competed in another olympic distance triathlon in Muncie.  It was so fun to have both sets of our parents there.

You gotta love the photobomb.

We were up at 4 am, afterall.

BYU won in the last minute and we all cheered.

Jacob received a name and a blessing from Ben on September 6th in Carmel, Indiana - the ward where Ben grew up.

It was so great to have our parents there.

A special day to celebrate Jakey - he wasn't so thrilled.

And we visited the temple that evening - so, so beautiful!

Trent Cole, a Colts football player, at Under Armor for a photo op.

Four generations of men with the middle name Paul.

Catching Up: Minnesota

I have got a lot of catching up to do on this dear blog!  Life with a baby = no time to blog unless it is about him!  Here are some pictures from our time in Minnesota.  Ben started his internship with General Mill there in June and Jake & I stayed in Merced with my parents.  When Jake was 3 months old we joined Ben for his last month there in August.

Jakey worked on his neck strength while in Minnesota.

Some serious gorgeousness going on in that state!

Jake & I flew LA -> MSP on my 26th birthday and Ben met us at the airport with flowers.

Got to spend some good time with Nicky & Jason while there.

Ben competed in an olympic distance triathlon one Saturday (and thus began the saga of the Timex watch . . )

Post-race brunch.

Ben worked on the Old El Paso team.  Unfortunately, it doesn't agree with my palate much.  ;)

Neck strength!

Jacob had to get to know Daddy all over again.

After 4 weeks in Minneapolis, we drove to Indianapolis!

Jacob: Six Months

Oh, dear Jacob!  He is growing so fast and time is passing so quickly!

At six months, Jacob

- is a chunky little fella - those thighs!

- has lighter and lighter hair - turning into a blondie!

- has the biggest blue eyes and everywhere we go people comment on them.

- is up on his knees and rocking - so close to crawling

- moves so quickly doing the army crawl

- can sit unassisted for quite a while . . and then sometimes he just topples right over

- does the downward dog all day long and it cracks us up!

- now nurses on both sides - hurrah!

- laughs and smiles and chit chats with Mom and Dad.

- is not allergic to milk protein like we thought, thank goodness.

- sometimes sleeps through the night, and sometimes is up every hour . . it's a work in progress and sleep training has now begun.  Yikes.

- loves Disneyland and has been 3 times!

- is definitely a mama's boy.  I've got to be in sight at all times!

- is very observant and has got to see what's going on around him!

- is wild and rambunctious, curious and determined . . it is very clear that I am going to have my hands full with this one!

We love our Jakey-boy, Little Buddy, and Goose!  What joy he brings to our hearts!

Jacob: Five Months

Time!  She is a fickle and fast mistress.  How is our little boy 5 months old?  Time is moving so quickly and I wish I could just slow it down.  Most days.  ;)

At five months, Jacob:

Has been given a name and a blessing by Daddy

Weighed in at 15 lbs. 8 oz. at 4 1/2 months

Is 25 inches tall

Moved back to his Los Angeles home

Loves, loves, loves the bath tub and gives Mama or Daddy a shower with his splashes each time we bathe him

Loves the bath tub so much that when he is intolerably cranky, we stick him in the tub

Rolls over both his left and right sides

Rolls front to back and back to front

Scoots all over the place using mostly his legs while putting his hands in his mouth

Is seriously so close to crawling!

Has started solid foods (sweet potatoes!) at the encouragement of his doctor based on his extreme interest in putting things in his mouth and watching us while we eat

Has become a better napper

Has become a worse nighttime sleeper

Is learning to love the Jumperoo!

Went to Disneyland for the first time and is excited to use our Annual Pass all year!

Is mostly happy but let's us know when he's not  :)

Has a favorite song: Popcorn Popping!  Or our bath time lyric variations to the same tune. :)

I adore our sweet Jakey boy.  He is growing and learning so much every day!  I am pretty sure that he is going to give me a run for my money - he is a mover, he is determined, and he is spunky!  He is incredibly sweet and earnest and when he looks at me with those big blue eyes, I know he loves me - unconditionally!  What a babe.

Jacob: Four Months

Holy cow!  Little man is growing up right before our eyes!  At four months, Jacob:

Is rolling over!  Back to front like a pro (but only over his left side); front to back every now and again with great effort!  His first roll was on 8.18.15.

Has much, much improved neck strength and excels at tummy time!

Sleeps pretty well at night, with just one wake-up . . most of the time ;)

Is napping better with lots of work from Momma!

Has lived a month in Minneapolis while Daddy worked at General Mills

Got to watch Daddy compete in a triathlon for the first time!

Loves his reflection in the mirror and will smile and coo at it all day long

Thoroughly enjoys bath time!

Weighed in at 14.2 lbs mid-way through the month

Is suddenly having great difficulty nursing and causing his momma much stress!  The doctor thinks it may be a milk/soy protein allergy, but we'll have to visit the doctor soon to investigate.

Got to know Daddy again, after being apart for 7 weeks!

We love our Jacob-man!
